Terms & Conditions

These terms and conditions are subject to change, so please check this page periodically for updates.

THERAPIST'S COMMITMENT

I am committed to treating all clients respectfully and ethically, adhering to the National Hypnotherapy Society's Code of Ethics, available at https://nationalhypnotherapysociety.org/about-us/code-of-ethics.

If you find any valid reason to make a complaint regarding my services or conduct, please visit https://nationalhypnotherapysociety.org/have-a-concern/complaints-process, quoting my name and membership number HYP22-00894.

I offer support and encouragement, but ultimately, client progress depends on their willingness to engage with the process and try new approaches. Open-mindedness is essential. While some new experiences may initially feel awkward, it's beneficial to remain open to the process. However, I will always respect your boundaries and refrain from any activity that makes you genuinely uncomfortable.

Should you wish to proceed, therapeutic services typically begin no sooner than 48 hours after the initial consultation. This allows time to develop a personalised treatment plan.

While I am committed to providing the best possible support, no therapist can guarantee specific outcomes.  Therefore, no guarantee is given that any issue will be 'cured,' and lack of results does not constitute grounds for a full or partial refund.

GENERAL BEHAVIOUR

Clients are expected to communicate respectfully at all times.  Any intentional disruption or disrespectful behaviour will result in the cessation of communication and a block on future contact.

Both client and therapist will maintain professional boundaries, respecting each other's personal space and refraining from over-familiarity or inappropriate communication, especially outside scheduled appointments.

Please arrive on time for all appointments.  Appointments may be cancelled or rescheduled if you are more than 10 minutes late.

RESTRICTIONS OF SERVICE

Hypnosis is a safe and natural process, experienced by everyone in some form. While hypnotherapy can effectively address many issues, it may not be suitable for individuals with certain forms of psychosis or epilepsy, as it has been known, in rare cases, to trigger psychotic episodes or seizures in those with these conditions. Please consult with me or your doctor if you have any concerns. Clients should not be under the influence of substances that may impair mental cognition (including alcohol, cannabis, and mind-altering medications, whether prescribed or not) during appointments. The consultation form includes a declaration to confirm this, for your safety and mine.  Hypnotherapy is also not recommended for individuals who are unwilling to participate actively.

CHANGES OF AGREED SERVICES

Treatment plans are flexible and may need adjustment based on client progress. Some clients may progress faster or slower than anticipated. Progress will be monitored weekly through client feedback, and adjustments will be made as needed, fairly and appropriately. Any changes to the original agreement, including fees, will be documented in an addendum sent via email after verbal and written agreement from both parties.

Cancellation of agreed treatment sessions may be subject to cancellation terms and fees (see below).

CONFIDENTIALITY STATEMENT

I adhere to the National Hypnotherapy Society's Code of Ethics and Safeguarding Policy: https://nationalhypnotherapysociety.org/about-us/code-of-ethics/safeguarding-policy.

In compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018 (https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2018/12/contents), client notes and records will be kept secure and confidential. Manual records will be locked when not in use, and computer records will be password-protected, with passwords regularly updated. Client records (paper and digital) will be stored in a locked cabinet within a locked room. When transporting files, they will be kept in a locked container, and if left in a vehicle, they will be secured in the boot. All information will be destroyed within two years of treatment completion, in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018.  Written consent will be obtained before any case notes are used for academic research or assessment (in which case, the information will be anonymized), or before any referrals or escalations are made to external parties, such as the client's doctor.

DATA PROTECTION

I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and adhere to the UK Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). For more information, please visit https://ico.org.uk/for-the-public/.

CLIENT AGREEMENTS

Clients agree to commit to the agreed-upon treatment plan to the best of their ability. Any necessary adjustments will be discussed with the client and documented in writing.

Communication will generally be kept between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. GMT.  Communication outside these hours may be addressed the following day. Clients will comply with any agreed-upon contact requests between sessions.

CONTRACT OF SERVICES

Following the initial consultation, treatment plan options and a 'Terms of Acceptance of Treatment' PDF document will be emailed to the client as soon as is practical. The client must reply, confirming their agreement to the terms outlined in that document, before treatment can begin.

FEES

All fees are payable in advance of each session via bank/PayPal transfer. Payment details will be provided via email.

CANCELLATION OF SERVICES BY THE CLIENT OR/AND THERAPIST

Paid fees for future sessions will be refunded if the client provides notice of cancellation. Fees for services already rendered are non-refundable.

If a client fails to attend a paid appointment, the fee will be transferred to the next scheduled appointment.

If a client misses more than two consecutive appointments without valid reason or notice, all future services will be terminated, and any prepaid fees for future sessions will be refunded.
